Each nappy is carefully designed to perform under pressure — keeping little ones dry, comfortable, and protected — while giving carers and distributors confidence in every change.  Manufactured in an ISO 9001-certified facility with strict ingredient tracking, Squimbles nappies are created without chlorine, formaldehyde, lotions, added fragrances, or bromophenol blue. Every decision in our design serves one goal: safer skin and consistent reliable performance.

In childcare, nappies are changed regularly — but what matters most is how quickly moisture is drawn away from the skin between those changes.  Our advanced super-absorbent, multi-layer core provides rapid uptake, pulling liquid away from delicate skin in seconds. This reduces contact time with moisture, helping prevent irritation and nappy rash while keeping little ones comfortable through active play and rest.  The layered design evenly distributes fluid across the core to prevent clumping and maintain a smooth, flexible fit.  And for those little ones who drink a lot before nap time, Squimbles still provides up to 12-hour protection, (like most retail quality nappies) helping prevent leaks during longer rest periods — without compromising breathability or softness.  Because in real childcare settings, rapid absorption isn’t a luxury — it’s essential care.

Squimbles’ secure-fit design is built to make those moments easier.  Our wide waistband — around 1 cm taller than Australia’s leading retail nappy — provides a more secure, comfortable fit that stays in place during movement, play, or rest.  The large grip tabs make for faster, easier changes before nap time or after meals — no tabs tearing off, no slipping fingers, just dependable hold every time.  A smarter, stronger fit made for real childcare routines.

Why No Added Fragrances

Many nappies use synthetic fragrances to mask odour, but these can contain hundreds of chemical compounds, some of which act as allergens or skin sensitisers.  Because baby skin is up to 30% thinner than adult skin, it absorbs these compounds more readily. Fragrance vapours and residues can disrupt the skin’s natural barrier, leading to irritation or dryness.  By remaining fragrance-free, Squimbles nappies minimise unnecessary exposure and help maintain the skin’s natural balance.

Why No Chlorine

Some brands use chlorine to bleach the inner layers white — purely for appearance. This process can leave behind trace residues called dioxins, which have no benefit and don’t belong near delicate skin. Squimbles nappies are completely chlorine-free, protecting the skin’s integrity and ensuring our materials stay clean, neutral, and gentle.

Why No Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde can appear as a by-product of certain preservatives or adhesives used in manufacturing, and is known to cause irritation in sensitive skin and airways.  Squimbles nappies are formaldehyde-free, made with carefully selected materials and processes that avoid any formaldehyde-releasing compounds. The result: clean, non-reactive layers that keep children safe and carers confident.

Why No Lotions

Lotions added to some nappies often contain synthetic or petroleum-based emollients. While intended to “protect,” they can actually trap moisture and bacteria against the skin — a common trigger for rashes.  Because children in care settings wear nappies for set, extended periods, Squimbles leaves lotions out entirely. This lets carers apply their preferred barrier creams when needed, giving them full control over what touches a child’s skin.

Why No Bromophenol Blue (Wetness Indicators)

Wetness indicators often rely on bromophenol blue, a dye that changes colour when it reacts with moisture. While visually useful, it can release a vapour when activated — not ideal for sleeping children where airflow is minimal.  Squimbles chooses to omit wetness indicators altogether, relying instead on rapid absorption and breathable materials to manage moisture naturally.  No colour-change chemicals, no vapours — just pure, simple performance.

At Squimbles, every ingredient has a purpose. Our wipes are carefully formulated for delicate skin and high-frequency use in professional childcare settings — where a gentle touch and consistent performance truly matter.

We don’t follow trends; we set new standards. Each component in our formulation is chosen for its proven safety, skin benefit, and compatibility with daily care routines, ensuring every wipe delivers the right balance of effective cleansing and lasting comfort.

Our formulation is free from alcohol, parabens, added fragrance, and formaldehyde-releasing agents, because wipes shouldn’t just clean — they should care.  We know carers reach for wipes dozens of times a day — so we’ve built ours to support skin health with every clean. Here’s how each ingredient helps keep little ones comfortable, cared for, and protected.

Ingredient Intelligence

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is widely used in skincare because it helps calm and comfort stressed skin. In wipes, its role is to soothe and replenish the skin after cleaning.

  • When skin is wiped (especially nappy area, face, hands), there’s friction. Friction = micro-irritation. Aloe helps cool and settle that.
  • Aloe also supports surface hydration — it helps the skin hold onto moisture instead of stripping it.
  • This matters in childcare, where the same areas of skin may be wiped multiple times a day. Repeated wiping without replenishing can lead to dryness, redness, or chafing.
    In short: aloe keeps skin comfortable between changes, not just immediately after.

Vitamin E is an antioxidant that supports the skin’s natural barrier — the thin protective layer that keeps moisture in and irritants out.

  • When you clean, you remove mess, but you can also remove protective oils. Vitamin E helps support that barrier after cleansing.
  • A supported barrier = lower chance of dryness and less “chapping” in high-wipe zones like around the mouth, under the nappy line, and in skin folds.
  • Ongoing carers will recognise this: once skin gets compromised, it’s harder to get it back under control.
    Including Vitamin E means the wipe doesn’t just clean — it helps defend the skin from the after-effects of cleaning.

Chamomile is known for being calming, but here’s what that actually means in childcare terms:

  • Chamomile contains naturally occurring compounds that help reduce visible redness and help quiet stressed or reactive skin.
  • That’s important on cheeks, around the mouth, and in the nappy area — the places that flare first.
  • When carers are wiping faces after meals or wiping noses, they’re often wiping already-irritated skin. Chamomile helps take the edge off that irritation instead of making it worse.

Soothing isn’t just a “nice to have.” It reduces the number of children sent home with visible redness that can trigger parent concern or complaint.

Castor oil has had a huge resurgence in adult skincare because of how well it helps dissolve residue and lift impurities without being harsh. PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil is a gentler, water-compatible form of that same castor oil.
Here’s why it matters in wipes:

  • It helps break down oily residue (nappy creams, milk fats around the mouth, sunscreen, etc.) so carers can clean properly without scrubbing.
  • It acts as a very mild cleanser/surfactant — meaning it helps remove mess without stripping the skin.
  • It also helps keep the wipe formula evenly blended and stable, so every wipe in the pack performs the same from first to last.

This is especially useful in centres, where wiping needs to be effective but also super fast. You don’t get 10 gentle passes; you get one good wipe.

Citric acid in wipes often sounds scary to people who’ve only heard of it as an “acid,” so let’s be plain: in baby wipes, citric acid is not there to exfoliate. It’s there to help keep the wipe’s formula at a skin-friendly pH.
Why that matters:

  • Healthy baby skin is naturally slightly acidic. If a wipe formula drifts too alkaline, that can disrupt the skin barrier and increase irritation risk.
  • Citric acid helps hold the wipe solution in the right zone — close to the skin’s natural environment.
  • It also supports product stability, so the formula stays consistent over time, not “turning” as the pack is opened and reopened.

So: citric acid = pH balance = less disruption to delicate skin.

Our “No” List, and Why

No Alcohol

Alcohol-based wipes feel “fresh,” but that effect comes from evaporation. That evaporation also strips natural oils and dries the skin, which is a problem on faces, around the nose, and on nappy areas that are already stressed.
We leave alcohol out to avoid stinging, over-drying, and barrier damage — especially for children who are wiped multiple times a day.

No Added Fragrance

Fragrance is one of the most common causes of contact irritation in infants and toddlers, because “fragrance” isn’t one ingredient — it can legally be a mix of dozens or even hundreds of undisclosed compounds, some of which can act as irritants or sensitisers.  We choose not to add fragrance at all. That means fewer unknowns on the skin, fewer unnecessary reactions, and less lingering perfume near the mouth and nose.

No Parabens

Parabens are widely used preservatives. They keep products from spoiling, but they’re also linked to irritation and are often avoided by parents and carers who are looking for “cleaner” formulations.  We don’t use parabens. We preserve in other ways (below) that still keep the wipes safe to use.

Preservation & Safety

Here’s the honest part no-one explains: you can’t have an opened, moist wipe in a warm childcare room without a preservative. If you tried to go “preservative-free,” you’d just be wiping kids with a bacteria risk. So preservatives are not the enemy — the wrong preservatives are.  We use a preservative system built around ingredients like Sodium Benzoate and Sorbitan Caprylate. These are widely used in sensitive-skin and baby formulas to control the growth of bacteria, yeast, and mould in moist environments.

Why that matters:

  • It keeps every wipe hygienic from first pull to last.
  • It reduces the need for harsher preservative systems sometimes found in mainstream wipes (for example, certain brands may use stronger synthetic preservatives, added perfume, or more aggressive stabilisers to control odour and extend shelf life).
  • It protects carers and centres: you’re cleaning a child, not introducing a new source of irritation.

We also include Disodium EDTA and Sodium Citrate to keep the formula stable and consistent — they help stop the liquid from breaking down or reacting with trace minerals in the water, which supports both safety and shelf performance.   The result is a wipe that stays fresh, safe, and consistent — without relying on parabens, added fragrance, or alcohol.

Together, these ingredients create wipes that are as thoughtful as they are functional — soothing, safe, and reliable for every change, every clean, every day.  Because at Squimbles, gentle care isn’t a feature — it’s our foundation.
